Mo Ranch Manor House Suite with Monterey Furniture

I am out of pictures to scrapbook, so I am entertaining myself by sharing some of my Mo Ranch pics. Staying in the VIP suite (and the great food) was really my favorite part of the Photography Workshop.

The  Manor House was built in 1928. It was the original owner's home and he blasted rocks out of the mountain for it. 

We were assigned to stay here because there was a bat in the room where we were supposed to be. There are large groups staying in the main house, but the suite is only for VIPs. The Presbyterian Ladies were here this weekend with us.

Turn left before the pool to enter the suite.

The suite is on the second floor and we found out later they were worried about us old people having to climb the stairs.

There is also a third story.

We found out the reason no one stays here is the very valuable Monterey  furniture.

It is very desired right now by Californians who are restoring the old Rancho homes. Those lamps are $450 each on ebay. The bed is larger than a king...they had to have sheets special made. (not sure what happened to the bedspread)

Monterey furniture incorporated distressed wood, handpainted decorations and forged iron. They also liked pottery and tile in vivd colors. Couch: $3950

Just the mirror $650.

You can buy this Chandelier for $3650 and I saw a similar table with 6 chairs for $2950.

Upstairs

I found this at sunrise.... a Guadalupe river view.

There are 4 twin beds and several more pieces in this round third story room with 8 windows.

Doing Weatherford

Charlsie and I met in Weatherford for a long overdue girl's day out in September.

We  visited 2 gardens: Clark Gardens and Chandor Gardens. They are both beautiful and we enjoyed both of them but I can't remember which pictures go to which garden.

Clark Gardens has a large display of electric trains. I may have spent too much time there...love trains!

We also went to a movie, ate some delicious meals,

went to a play at Theater Off the Square,

soaked in the hot tub at the hotel

and solved some world problems, of course.

TEXAS: Outdoor Musical Drama at Pala Dura Canyon

 My favorite part was when the cowboy kissed his girl and lightening split a huge tree in half.

Zion wants to be an actress. I told her that if she could get a job in this musical next summer, I would come and stay with her and we could camp in a tent at the park all summer. She was with me right up until the tent.

I got in trouble with Ms. Vegan for buying her daughter blue poison. (slurpee) She only told me not to buy her soda.

We got a backstage tour with a cute Baylor coed. She took some pictures for us. I hope her major is not photography. We "posterized" this one in photoshop just for fun.
 

 

I was surprised with how many horses are in the play. I knew about the one that rides across the top of the canyon with the Texas flag at the beginning, but there are many more all through the play. The special effects were pretty impressive,too.... fireworks, trains, all kinds of  props and water displays.

All my life, I have read and seen pictures of the Cadallac Ranch at Amarillo. I was determined to see it, so now you don't have to. Zion and Isaac are wishing they didn't have to.

And more cute/handsome grandchildren: I stole this from facebook. Josh is caving this summer. 

A few weeks ago, I had the Lindsey boys for a couple of days while their parents went to Dallas to a wedding. I didn't have time to take many pictures, but I did get them to clean my house.

Palo Duro Canyon

We took a little trip to Canyon, Tx, for our 46th anniversary in April.

This is one of the most famous formations, the lighthouse.

The first morning, the temp was 28.

Our cabin was 5 minute walk from the BR

The first night, we found that to be a challenge.

I learned not to drink after lunch.

My dinky little camera does nice panoramas.

There are several low water crossings and we heard lots of stories about campers getting stranded during floods and boys trying to float rafts during them.

At 28 dgrees there were not many flowers.

as it began to warm up,

we saw more flowers every day.

  Dugouts were a common shelter on the Texas plains and prairies.
