Chirstmas Day Home Alone

I know my kids are worried about what we did on Christmas.(It was our first time alone.) We sat in our Mother and Father places and had Cornish game hens.

We moved some bookcases into the den where the piano was  (we took it to our grandchildren who want to take piano lessons) and I put all my nativities on it except the new one I got for my birthday. It is on the mantel. I'm not going to do this next year, but I just wanted to see them all together.
Here is the one Jenny sent me. I want to get some candles for it for next year.

Then we had to rearrange the furniture in the guest room after we took the bookcases out. I still have 8 boxes of books that need a new home.
Courtney and I were alone one year on Christmas. That was a while ago..1993.

An Overheard Conversation

Z is 6. He has 3 little brothers. He is a very good big brother and very helpful to his Mom and Dad. He knows a lot about babies.

His cousin, I is also 6, but he is the baby in his family. He was interested in Z's latest little brother and was discussing babies with his very experienced cousin. He learned a lot: They spit up. They poop and pee. They sneeze and snot goes everywhere. They get boogers in their eyes. And don't forget, they cry a lot.

Bribes and Other Adventures

We found ourselves back at the lake to walk, play on the big slide and do some boy stuff again.

There was a cold wind. I got a cold the next day. I know the weather doesn't cause colds, but just sayin'.

Boys love to throw rocks. Meanwhile, I pray desperately that no one falls in.
You know all those great pictures their Mom takes? This is the back story. Skittles for smiles. I'm sure she got them free with a coupon. Also there was a trip to the Yogart store planned for afterwards that was mentioned a few times.

Making a Cake for Mom

Every year Wendy's boys and I enjoy making a cake for her birthday.
We made cards, too.
They worked really hard for a long time on their cards.
When they heard her open the garage door, they turned out all the lights and jumped out and sang, "Happy Birthday".  (Z organized all of that.)

Fort Worth

I went to visit my friend, Charlsie, this weekend in Ft. Worth. Even after 30 years, this skyline still says "Welcome Home".
I lived near this street for 35 years and never thought of this before: Beach Street..no beach or water anywhere near it!

We had a very ambitious day planned. Our first stop was Chandor Gardens in Weatherford. A big sign on the gate informed us they were closed for the holiday. Gotta love those small towns! We proceeded to the 2nd item on our list, Grandbury. We got there just in time to see the parade. Do you think a guy who rides a purple bike might have a lot of self confidence?
The high school band had 8 tubas today. This is the first time I ever heard a piece of music only for tubas . It actually was very enjoyable.

I can't resist antique medical equipment.

Grandbury has one of the prettiest courthouses in Texas

and a very nice lake.

One of the hotels has a nice place to walk

and the city has a nice sand beach.

I can't imagine how many trucks full of sand were brought in to make this beach. We had the whole thing to ourselves even though it was a beautiful, sunny day.

We went to the Grandbury Opera House and saw a very cute play.

Charlsie has known me longer and better than almost everyone and loves me anyway.
You will not be surprised that we knew all the songs from the play. 1950's r us!
The road from Abilene to Bronte (277) is one of my favorite Texas Highways.

Morris Family

These are all my pics. Wendy hasn't given me her's yet. The ideas are all hers, though.

A couple of them are backlit really badly, but they were too cute to delete.

This one is Dad's

Some more faces that make me happy

Papa got in here by accident. I did not have a picture of just me and Joel. (it was a very busy time and pre-scrapbooking) Then when I got these printed, I didn't edit very well and E's face got cropped off. I am getting it reprinted with his face this time. Next time I see Joel, I will do something about us.
