Oak Mountain State Park

We also visited Alabama's largest state park near Birmingham. It is popular with mountain bikers and golfers but today there were a lot of families there enjoying swimming in the lake.

On the road to the waterfalls there are several places to stop and see the view from the top. We didn't go to the falls because there was a sign that said it was a steep, dangerous trail and it was getting too close to closing time for the park.
I love all the trees in this part of the country. We don't have many in West Texas!
There is a wildlife refuge for wounded birds who can't survive on their own. They are in cages, though so they are not very photogenic.
We did enjoy their very nice hike in the forest, though.
