South Llano River State Park

We had a little get-away to the hill country this weekend and visited Junction, Texas and the nearby state park. My favorite picture of the South Llano River in the park: We found a little bridge where we could climb down and get our feet wet and cool off, but we were very cautious because we saw a snake in the river at another location. It was 101 every afternoon from noon until 8 pm.
Tubing is a popular activity in the park. We would love to bring the family here to tube.

Our lodge is on this part of the river. They advertise primarily for fishing. The hostess is a very good cook and they will bring meals to the river for the fishermen. We had a picnic here and this is where we saw the snake. We didn't take his picture. He was pretty small.
We found this guy taking his dog for a walk in a stroller in the park. We did some squirrel stalking:

Some bird watching:

And the deer watched us:

I found some pretty churches in Junction: The First Presbyterian: the Episcopal:

We also visited Telegraph, Texas We found a very nice place to stay. http://www.southllanoriverlodge.com/

We could sit on the porch and watch the hummingbirds.
