Little boys and their toys

I have not had much to blog about recently! I have been working, reading, scrapbooking a little and trying to keep the dead roley poly's vacuumed up. I have loved to read since my first trip to the Ft. Worth library when I was nine years old. I get very nervous if I don't have a stack of books waiting to be read. Did you see my new bookshelf over on the side? That was kind of fun for a minute, but I got tired of that pretty quickly. I have a difficult time finding books I haven't read at the library. I just finished a good one: The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak. It was written for older children, but was very interesting to me. It was written in the first person in the voice of a little girl who lived through WWII in Germany. I've not read many books from a German perspective and it was very revealing. I definitely recommend it.
I also got a new book by Chris Bojallian on my MP3 player that I am looking forward to listening to today while I scrapbook. He is one of the few men who write chick lit, along with our favorite Nicholas Sparks of The Notebook fame.
I have not seen a new book by Phillip Yancey (not a chick lit guy, but my favorite Christian author) in a long time. I need to check up on him and see what he is up to these days.

Later: Well, I did check up on Phillip, and would you believe he is in Germany at the very place where The Book Thief took place? He had some very interesting commentary about the places he has seen there. I also learned he broke his neck sometime last year but is OK and back to climbing those 14,000 foot mountains near where he lives in Colorado. Praise the Lord for that! He has some great photos of those mountains on his blog: . They are under "community". Have a look at him if you think a guy's hair do can not get any worse than Donald Trump. Hey, I said I liked his books, not his hair!

Here are some photos of some guys with great hair from Sunday afternoon. Z got to go pick out a car as a reward for a very big accomplishment!

My turn!Papa said, " Do you know how much these things cost when I was a kid? Actually, I didn't know there was such a thing when he was a kid!

I had to see his hair. When the page popped up I jumped. Thanks for the scare. I liked his explanation of why he writes. We are planing on reading his book, "Frearfully and Wonderfully Made" in school this year. It's got some great info for teens on sex.
