Fort Worth

I went to visit my friend, Charlsie, this weekend in Ft. Worth. Even after 30 years, this skyline still says "Welcome Home".
I lived near this street for 35 years and never thought of this before: Beach Street..no beach or water anywhere near it!

We had a very ambitious day planned. Our first stop was Chandor Gardens in Weatherford. A big sign on the gate informed us they were closed for the holiday. Gotta love those small towns! We proceeded to the 2nd item on our list, Grandbury. We got there just in time to see the parade. Do you think a guy who rides a purple bike might have a lot of self confidence?
The high school band had 8 tubas today. This is the first time I ever heard a piece of music only for tubas . It actually was very enjoyable.

I can't resist antique medical equipment.

Grandbury has one of the prettiest courthouses in Texas

and a very nice lake.

One of the hotels has a nice place to walk

and the city has a nice sand beach.

I can't imagine how many trucks full of sand were brought in to make this beach. We had the whole thing to ourselves even though it was a beautiful, sunny day.

We went to the Grandbury Opera House and saw a very cute play.

Charlsie has known me longer and better than almost everyone and loves me anyway.
You will not be surprised that we knew all the songs from the play. 1950's r us!
The road from Abilene to Bronte (277) is one of my favorite Texas Highways.
