My Mother's Day Loot

My daughters and I had a Mother's Day together this year.
I found a place to display my gifts where I can see them several times a day.
They got the idea for this necklace on Pinterest. There is a birthstone for every member of our family...all 20 of us.( I am going to wear this, but wanted to see it every day, too.)
You may be beginning to think we all like to make stuff.
She chose her favorite verse from different translations. They said they did not plan for all the colors to match.
I wanted to show you where I put my babies and brides pics  in the kitchen. I need a sign that says, "I am proud to like girls and pink".

It's me, just thinking

I was reminded of this scripture this week when talking to a family member who had heard about several people that she admired had gone to be with the Lord:
Precious in the Sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. Psalms 116:15

Death is something you think about at a time like that and after it happens to  many friends  it may be something you think about often. I don't worry about  or dread it, but I do think about it more these days after losing some dear friends who were my age.

I also think about things that I really do not understand completely about the christian life and wonder how I could have attained this advanced age, and not come to a conclusion about any of them.

I had another conversation last week with a family member about the old subject that has been haunting us since "we became charismatic ": does God want everyone to be healed?
I am satisfied with my own answer but can't effectively defend it. There seem to be different scriptures that support whatever point you want to make about the question.
My thoughts begin to go in a wrong direction toward doubt and I put them aside but they continued to try to come back.

Me, thinking.
I was so happy on Sunday morning when the preacher (we had a guest speaker, Bob Beaver from Christian Church of San Angelo ) announced the name of his sermon: "Walk By Faith, Not By Sight". It was a great sermon but the title was all I needed to hear. I knew this was a subject where  I needed to "guard my heart" against doubt and unbelief. He also confirmed my "precious in the Lord" scripture when he reminded us that we are not promised that we will have one more second of life.

This morning when I listened to Focus on the Family and Family Life Today, they both aired old interviews with Chuck Colson, who went to be with the Lord Saturday. It was such a blessing to hear his testimony again and about how pride ruled the first part of his life before he met the Lord and before he went to prison for his part in Watergate. Pride is another battle I face at times, so it's always a blessing to be reminded how much God hates pride.
Pride ends in humiliation, while humility brings honor. Proverbs 29:23 NLT

Bob also reminded me Sunday of Mark 10:44, "And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all". I don't think we realize as women, caring for our family, how important to God our work is or that we are going to be the "chiefest" in heaven. Even though we serve everyday, all day, and sometimes all night, sometimes (or most of the time), my attitude could improve.

And that's not even all! This morning, I watched Joel Osteen and he talked about procrastination and how when there is something that we are told to do, we put it off, and postpone God's blessings. He also said that when a thought first comes to us that there is something we need to do, we have grace to do it. As we put it off, that grace is gone and the task gets more difficult. I know that is true from my experiences. I got an assignment while watching and I am going to go start on it right now!

Happy as a Pig in Mud

That was a Grandpa saying. But I am happy to  have pictures again.  Finished the birthday party.

I also learned how to get pictures from my grandchildren's facebook albums.

I added our recent wildflower trip to my Texas Wildflower book.

My groupon was about to expire at Mixbook, so I made some books of the Morris family that we did last fall.

I have found some really good books to read.

Today I scrapped grandson's very nice pictures from Palo Duro.

Pray for Courtney. She has been having some problems with her legs since playing kickball last week.

Some Things That Made Me Happy This Week

I have some very smart grandchildren who write down things I don't understand.

I have some very smart grandchildren who like the same things I like. (dissecting owl pellets)

I have a very smart grandson who wears a vest to hold all his Apple products.
Next Sunday, is our 45th anniversary. I like the quote in the corner:  "Love is friendship set to music."  All of you very  busy young mothers, hang tough.  You will get those kids raised and have some time to "Celebrate Us". And they might make you very happy.
On the other hand, getting mashed potatoes for lunch did not make me so happy.

A Texas Spring

I am always a little disappointed in our photographs of bluebonnets and wildflowers. You just can't document the experience of driving through mile after mile, of the seas of blue, yellow, pink, white and orange.

I know this is not good theology, but I'm pretty sure Lady Bird went straight to heaven. No one could cooperate with God, restoring his wildflowers  like she did, without experiencing His love and care.
I love Indian Paintbrush almost as much as bluebonnets.

These goats had a dog watching them and when we stopped, he came up to the fence to great us and the goats all got up and came, too.

These stones are a frequent site around Mason. Ft. Mason was built with them in 1846 and after the fort closed, the settlers used them for their homes and whatever else they needed.

Our B&B was 2 miles down  a dirt road near Mason.

The highway department has made a pull out space so everyone can stop and see the bald eagles nesting near Llano. This is one of a pair who have made their home here for many years. Bald eagles mate for life and both watch the eaglets, taking turns going out to look for food.

We loved our room, "Treetop". It was wall to wall windows overlooking the Llano River.

The view from our window

The B&B fed the birds and we saw this guy hanging out everyday.

1955

I am out of pictures to scrapbook again and going through my albums where I sometimes stick stray photos. I found some pictures of Freda's family to scrapbook and thought you all would enjoy this.
